Summer Swimming 2016
Come out this summer and swim with Evanston Masters. This year we will be outdoors in Wilmette at the Centennial Outdoor Pool. Enjoy some long course workouts in the 50 meter pool with fellow teammates.
Join this very diverse team of adult swimmers of all ability levels. Expert coaching and appropriate workouts are provided for all skill levels. We can help you reach your swimming goal, whether that means improved fitness, learning a new stroke, completing the swimming portion of an Iron Man or breaking a National USMS Record. Attendance isn’t required; however, it is best to attend as many practices as your schedule allows. We will help you improve your freestyle as well as learn the 3 other strokes (butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke). You will also learn how to do starts and proper turns. All of this will enable you to participate fully in the assigned practices and prepare you for meets. Participants must have the basic mechanics of freestyle mastered and must be able to swim at least 50 meters.
Swimming starts June 13, 2016.
Practices are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:15am to 6:30am, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00pm to 10:15pm, and Saturdays from 7:15am to 8:45am
To register, create a login with the Wilmette Park District and enroll at this link:
Do a search under "SWIM PROGRAMS" and will be listed under "Wilmette Masters". Contact Evanston Masters or Wilmette Park District with any issues.
Winter Swimming 2015-16
Get Wet! Get Wild!
The 2015-16 Winter Season is underway and we want to see you on deck! We will be holding practices at Evanston Township High School (Dodge and Church Streets) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (please check the calendar for cancellations that may occur throughout the season).
We have a great year planned. We will be hosting two meets at ETHS and will attend two "away" meets. The first "away" meet will be at Lattof YMCA in January and the second will be in March at a meet to be determined (You can find details on all meets at the ILMSA web site, www.ilmsa.com
). We will we will end the season with the Illinois Short Course Championships next spring, where we look to improve our standing from the last several years.
We also have a full social calendar planned. We have already had several "Thirsty Thursdays" after practice to rehydrate and refresh body and spirit. We have also begun our schedule of parties (a special thanks to Dave Ackermann for hosting our Halloween Party with his world-famous haunted house - if you missed it ... well, come join us so you don't miss any more!)

Catfish in the Swim
Congratulations to Steve Mullins, a founding member of the Wild Catfish, on his outstanding performance at the FINA World Masters Championships held in August in Kazan, Russia. Steve took 2nd place in the 200 meter freestyle, 3rd in the 800 and 100 meters freestyle and 6th in the 200 meter backstroke.

Closer to home, Catfish Tom Holmberg and Richard Ruderman swam at the USMS Long Course Nationals in Ohio in August. Tom took 10th in the 100 meter breaststroke and 8th in the 200 meter breaststroke, while Richard, one of the newest members of the team, placed 11th in the 50 meter freestyle and 17th in the 100 meter freestyle. They also made up half of a men's 200 meter freestyle relay team that placed 7th. Congratulations to both on their fine swims.
